Ottawa Dentists Donating Care Packages for Oral Cancer Patients
250 mouth care sets will help support the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre
As part of their 125th anniversary, the Ottawa Dental Society (ODS) is continuing to give back to the community, this time with a donation of oral care products to help head and neck oncology patients at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre.
We all know proper hygiene and good dental care habits are important, but it’s crucial during cancer treatment to prevent infection and other serious problems. That’s why ODS is donating 250 care packages for patients to take home with them. They include:
Mouth rinse bottles
Recipe and instructions for the daily mouth rinse
Soft bristle toothbrush
Natural lip balm
ODS President, Dr. Jaideep Lal, says, “We’re grateful to the team at the Ottawa Hospital Dental Clinic for the important care they give to patients undergoing radiation therapy. We hope these care packages will help during their treatment and recovery.”

Earlier this year, ODS donated $10,000 to the Ottawa Mission Dental Clinic for equipment upgrades. Since 2007, the clinic has been serving Ottawa’s homeless population thanks to a team of more than 100 volunteer dentists, dental assistants, hygienists, and denturists.
