The Ottawa Dental Society (ODS) coordinates an emergency service for patients who are unable to see their regular dentist or who do not have a regular dentist.
The goal of this service is to address emergency symptoms only such as pain relief, tooth abscess, facial swelling, or avulsed (knocked-out) tooth. The on-call dental team requires time to assess your condition and provide a diagnosis and relevant treatment options. There will be a fee for services provided.
Patients are responsible for fees incurred for the diagnosis and treatment they receive.
What should I do when I have a dental emergency?
Please call 613-523-4185 for the name and number of the dentist on duty and then contact the duty dentist's office directly to schedule an appointment. On-call dentists take emergency cases from 9am - 9pm, 7 days a week.
The emergency dental clinics will require the following information from you:
- Proof of identification – name and address
- If you have dental coverage/insurance OR a form of government-subsidized dental coverage/insurance, please bring all relevant dental insurance information.
- Method of payment, such as cash or credit card.
- Relevant medical history, such as current medications and allergies.
